Currently the latest Java package for Leap is java-11; the official upstream lts version is 17. There is already java-17 for TW. Please provide java-17 for Leap.
We're post new package deadline for Leap 15.4 Proposing for 15.5.
Metadata Update from @lkocman: - Issue set to the milestone: 15.5
@lkocman Java 17 is already in Leap 15.4, see https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.4/java-17-openjdk
That must be very new, because software doesn't know this: https://software.opensuse.org/package/java-17-openjdk
Then we will probably have openjdk-21 :-)
Seriously: openjdk-17 was released in September 2021. People will reasonably expect that 15.4 ships 17 as Java and not 11 (which was released 2018).
@oneiros No, it is there for months. Do not use https://software.opensuse.org for browsing packages in distribution, that web has many bugs and not showing packages since Leap 15.3, is one of them. Use link https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.4 or browse repositories http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.4/repo/oss/x86_64/ and http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.4/repo/oss/noarch/

Confirming that we inherit java17 sources and binaries from SLES-15-SP4:GA as https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.4/java-17-openjdk
java17-openjdk has been packaged after the last openSUSE Conference. That could be the reason, that it does not show up everywhere.
