#106 Remove or Discontinue Quagga from LEAP in favour of FRR
Opened 3 months ago by mtomaschewski. Modified 3 months ago

Quagga has not been developed any further since 2018, website is mostly
down/broken, developer do not respond any more.

Please discontinue and do not ship quagga on LEAP-15.5 any more.

We've provided a last quagga update for openSUSE:Factory to address a
security issue (factory only, SLE not affected) and provide an update-message heads-up about deletion from factory and suggestion to migrate
to FRR, see:

update rq#1035188 (accepted)
delete rq#1036299 (accepted)

The FRR project is vital and continues with the development, the frr package
is available since SLE 15-SP3 and openSUSE Leap 15.3 and mentioned in the
SLE-15-SP3 release notes (see SLE-13591).

From https://frrouting.org/:
FRR has its roots in the Quagga project. In fact, it was started by many
long-time Quagga developers who combined their efforts to improve on Quagga’s well-established foundation in order to create the best routing protocol stack available. We invite you to participate in the FRRouting community and help shape the future of networking.

See also jsc#PED-2655 requesting the same for SLE-15-SP5.

Sounds good, Neal confirmed that package was dropped from Factory.
